Basic Ways to Make Money in Eve Online

When you first get into eve its important to learn how to play and do the tutorials.  At first it may seem pretty complicated and it is but it will get easier with time.  Because of the way that the skill system works in this game there is no benefit to playing the game for a long time in terms of how strong your character will be.  This means that you can play 5 minutes or 5 hours a day and still increase your skills just as fast, the thing that you can do however is earn money.  By earning money you can buy better ships or modules to have fun with.  In addition you can purchase implants for your character which will increase stats and the rate at which your skills will go up, but they can be very expensive. There are many different methods of making money in Eve but as a noob there are some that will be better than others.  For example you can be a pirate attacking other players but this wont suit you so well when its unlikely there will be many people you can outplay early on.  As a noob there are a couple easy ways that can get you money to buy things with.

Make Money Mining

First off one of the most obvious is mining.  Mining is probably the easiest way of making money when you have the skills.  When you first start the mining ships you’ll have access to will be pretty shabby.  The first ship you should go for would be the mining cruiser which requires very little training to get and  will also give you the ability to have a decent combat ship as well.  The best things to do when you get a mining cruiser is to also buy a secure cargo container and train your anchoring skill to 1.  Find an area with few people and anchor the container close to several asteroids and don’t forget to bookmark it so you can warp right to it..  Now just sit next to the container while you mine and fill it up.  When you and the container is full go back to whatever station  you’re dumping all your ore at and grab your hauler.  Warp to your bookmark grab the ore then go back to station drop it off then switch back to your cruiser and repeat.  This will be the best way of making money from mining until you can use a mining barge. Also it may be more profitable to sell you ore rather than refining and selling the metals until you get your refining skills up more. Although mining is probley the easiest way to mine since you can watch tv or surf the net at the same time its not necessarily the best (or most fun) way of making money.

Make Money Running Missions

Another way to make money and probably  the best way for a noob for several reason is going to be running missions.  Running missions is not only the most fun because you get to fight things while doing it but it will give you things other than just money.  When choosing to do missions try to keep doing them for the same corporation.  This is because as you do missions in addition to the money rewards you get when completing them you also get something called loyalty points.  These loyalty points can be use to buy special items such as various implants, modules, blueprints, and even ships.  Even if you don’t want any of the stuff for sale you can always just grab something with them and sell it on the market for a quick profit.  Other than that running missions will give you a constant amount of salvage from all the enemy ships you kill which you can use or also sell for price.  And finally mission running will raise your standing with the corporation your running missions for which can be useful for unlocking higher quality missions later on or getting more out of ore you refine if you choose to mine as well.

Make Money Playing The Market

The last method of making money as a noob that I would recommend would be playing the market.  Now you can always play the market in conjunction with the other methods but if you spend a little time training your skills up in trade it will make it a bit easier.  One of the biggest suggestions I have if your going to do a lot of trading would be to plant an alt in the biggest trading hub in Eve.  That place is in the systems Jita.  You could easily just have someone at the station there never leaving and make  good amount of money just watching prices and placing buy orders for commonly traded items.  As for the actual method of trading I suggest picking few items and research there prices.  Jita will usually have the lowest prices around  so you can always log onto your alt there and check prices on  few things then go over to your main who you might run missions with or whatever and see the prices in the area your at.  If you can find some things that are a nice difference run a hauler there and grab a few things.  Always be careful though as gankers are everywhere.  If your running something small that takes little space you could run it in something fast and small.  For example shuttles are cheap and fast so if you want to run a couple blueprints that don’t take much space they can get there and back quickly.  I find it best to just stick to specializing in a few items that way you don’t have to keep track of too much and early on when your skills are low you can only make a small number of market orders anyway.  One last suggestion to those using the market or selling anything in general.  When choosing to sell an item never just click sell item then click ok for what price comes up.  This price is just what other people put up as a buy order and you can almost certainly sell it for more. Good luck and hope you get rich soon.
